Join us for an immersive Trainers Day event in 2 parts with theme “The Mirror” Explore the transformative power of the mirror technique in psychodrama and self-discovery.
The mirror technique in psychodrama involves using other group members as mirrors to reflect back the thoughts, emotions, and conflicts of the protagonist exploring an issue. It helps them gain insight into their own experiences and perspectives from different angles.
Originally, Moreno called it the deliberately distorted mirror image, where the director would amplify on purpose certain qualities that the protagonist experience less pleasant about himself. This technique promotes personal growth and offers new possibilities for change. It is a very powerful technique that should be used with great care and awareness by the director.
Baby looks at the eyes of the mother and sees the world. A child looks at the group they belongs and learns about themselves in the world. Teenager understands how they mirror each other with their best friend and it feels so good. Adults are aware and responsible of being a mirror to the others, is able to look at themselves aside like from the mirror.
The Mirror as a psychodrama technique helps to see, to accept, to tolerate, to learn, to change if needed.
The Mirror is a powerful symbol in myths and fairy-tales.
